“Why you can’t help falling in love with Son Amar”
In October 1996 we arrived in Mallorca, on our little boat, after many weeks at sea.
We fell in love – first with Mallorca, then with Puerto Portals and then, much to our surprise, we discovered the incredible spectacle this is Son Amar and fell in love, once more, and forever.
We were constant visitors, inviting all our guests, on the last evening of their holidays, to Son Amar, so that their memories of this beautiful island were enriched by the never-to-be-forgotten Son Amar experience.
In 2007, I became one of the 6 new owners of Son Amar, something I never dreamed would or could ever happen. Gradually, the number of owners decreased because of the need for upgrades and investment, and by 2012 I was the only owner left.
Our aim was, and always is, to constantly improve the facilities and show and I was helped enormously in this challenge by the amazing show director Ricard Gamez and later by my son Ben.
The show is even more exciting these days with world class aerialists, acrobats, comedians and our treasured Son Amar dancers and singers and their dazzling costumes.
The theatre is now extremely modern with an enormous LED screen providing ever-changing scenery and ensuring every seat has a marvellous experience and enjoys a state-of-the-art sound and light system.
With a brand new kitchen and chefs, the restaurant is able to offer fabulous meals at every level of seating.
I loved the challenges and still do to this day. Now, however, Ben shoulders much of the responsibility and he has brought very many exciting changes to the way we work and to our priorities, especially with our Green Foundation, our amazing and unique fountain, ice rink in the winter, and an exceptional new indoor/outdoor family-centric restaurant El Castillo.
It’s impossible not to love Son Amar – the place that makes marvellous memories.
